How Root Canal Treatment Works
If infection reaches the inside of your tooth, treatment becomes urgent. Acting early can save your tooth, relieve pain, and prevent serious complications. Here’s what to expect during the process.
-
Step 1
We begin with digital imaging, 3d CBCT scan and a thorough exam to determine the condition of your tooth. We’ll review your symptoms, medical history, and discuss comfort options to ensure a painless experience.
-
Step 2
Utilizing microscope the root canal specialist carefully removes the infected or damaged nerve tissue inside the tooth. The root is cleaned, shaped, and disinfected using advanced instruments to ensure all bacteria are eliminated.
-
Step 3
Once the tooth is infection-free, it’s sealed with a protective material. Most root canal–treated teeth also receive a crown for added strength and long-term durability.
Not treating an infected tooth can lead to severe pain, abscess formation, bone loss, and even tooth loss. Let us help restore your smile with trusted root canal care in Allen, Frisco, Hurst, and ArlingtonThis link leads to Arlington location page, TX.
FAQ About Root Canal Treatment
-
What is a root canal?
A root canal is a procedure that removes infected or inflamed tissue inside the tooth. After cleaning and sealing the tooth, the pain disappears, and the natural tooth is preserved.
-
Does a root canal hurt?
Today’s root canals are performed with advanced numbing techniques, making the procedure virtually painless. Most patients say the treatment is no more uncomfortable than a simple filling.
-
How much does a root canal cost?
The cost varies depending on the location of the tooth and the complexity of the infection. Root canals are generally more affordable than tooth extraction followed by a replacement like implants or bridges.
-
Will I need a crown after a root canal?
In most cases, yes. A crown protects the tooth, restores strength, and ensures long-term durability after the inside has been cleaned.
-
How long does the procedure take?
Most root canals can be completed in one visit lasting 60–90 minutes. Complex cases may require two visits.
-
Is it safe to leave an infected tooth untreated?
No. Untreated infection can spread to the jaw, face, or bloodstream, causing serious health complications. A root canal stops the infection and protects your overall health.
